Will We Never Hear "Synergy" Again?
Nearly every merger in corporate history has been justified by claims of synergy. But in any basic competive strategies course they will teach you that synergy is never realized. The best that can be hoped for in such a situation is the exploitation of monopoly conditions that arise out of the merger, and we know that no corporate managers would be seeking that.
Another pundit has realized all of this. Does this mean that we won't be hearing about synergy for a while?
