What's Happening Outside of the RIAA's Little World?

Just as I have discovered in international football matches a world of packed stadiums and rabid fans beyond what is covered by ESPN and the sports page, there is a world of packed arenas and rabid fans outside of the music distributed by record companies and covered in Rolling Stone--there are artists like Fugazi, ani difranco, and perhaps the greatest of such artists, Brooklyn's own Kenny Young and the Eggplants.

You may have missed the coverage of the Eggplants' triumphant performance at Madison Square Park or the coverage of the people camped out in line last Monday night to get their new album, The Search for Eggplantis, or...Glam on the Half Shell, when the stores opened Tuesday morning (or maybe there was no such coverage). But the album is out, and you should be sure to get a copy. And while you're at it, you can get their first two albums as well. You will be richly rewarded for stepping beyond the bounds of the RIAA's circumscribed little world.
