Should Gerald Levin Hang Himself?

Today, Liz Smith quotes a Tina Brown column from the London Times, which in turn quotes a letter from Time's art critic, Robert Hughes, to Gerald Levin thusly:

How can I convey to you the disgust which your name awakens in me? The merger with Warner was a catastrophe. But the hitherto unimagined stupidity, the blind arrogance of your deal with AOL's Case simply beggars description. How can you face yourself, knowing how much history, value and savings you have thrown away on your mad, ignorant attempt to merge with a wretched dial-up ISP? I don't know what advice you have to offer, but I have some for you. Buy some rope, go out the back, find a tree and hang yourself. If you had any honor you would.

While I understand the anger, I think Mr. Hughes may have gone a bit too far. But I'm with him on the "mad, ignorant attempt to merge with a wretched dial-up ISP."

Didn't This Work Better For Hitler?

Despite President Bush's best attempts, it seems that Americans won't be distracted from domestic problems by the specter of Saddam Hussein:

A majority of Americans say that the nation's economy is in its worst shape in nearly a decade and that President Bush and Congressional leaders are spending too much time talking about Iraq while neglecting problems at home, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

Good for you, Americans.
