Should I Buy A G5 Now?
Once again, I've been on Apple's Web site, configuring a new G5 of my very own. Uncharacteristically, I keep hesitating at the last step. These are the arguments that I can see for and against clicking the "Place Order" button:
- No:
- It's expensive, we need to renovate our bathroom sometime in the near future, and I have a functional computer.
- Yes:
- There are several things I'd like to do but can't (get involved in Camino development, digitize my music collection, etc.) because I don't have enough of a computer, and I'm going to be getting this computer at some point--if I get it now, then I won't have to buy Panther (which I would buy otherwise) because it will be included.
I'm facing this dilemma mostly because I want to get involved in the development of Camino, and I want to do that because, as Eric so eloquently describes, I'm not getting to do enough actual development in my day job.
